“I’d put my money on the sun and solar energy. What a source of power!  I hope we don’t have to wait until oil and coal run out before we tackle that.” — Thomas Edison
The Power of the Sun
Everyday we are bombarded through the news about global warming, climate, change, energy problems, skyrocketing oil prices, the war in Iraq, and the FACT that we NEED to achieve energy independence through clean, renewable power.
Solar power has incredible potential to help solve these problems. In fact, enough solar energy shines upon the Earth each day to supply all of world's electrical needs for the next 26 years.
But, solar power has failed to reach the masses because it is too complicated and too expensive.  Until now, solar power failed to reach broad market acceptance for three major reasons:
  1. Once you amortized the cost of the system, it was about four times more expensive than energy from coal or natural gas.
  2. It required a large investment from the customer, the average Solar Power System costs $40,000.
  3. The customer had to understand and select, then maintain and repair the equipment.
Most people do not have the tens of thousands of dollars required for traditional solar.  Americans are simply never going to convert to clean power if they have to lay out tens of thousands of dollars and pay more for their electricity.  In fact, in the last 30 years only about 40,000 homeowners have upgraded to produce their own solar electricity.
